When the unexpected hits your family, it’s comforting to know Beaver Dam Community Hospital has the most advanced, state-of-the-art Emergency Department in the region, featuring:
Emergency Department – 24 hours a day
Urgent Care – 24 hours a day
Using video technology, Telestroke enables board-certified BDCH ER physicians and world-class UW stroke neurologists to directly interview patients and family members when a stroke is suspected. Computed Tomography (CT) scans are viewable and a treatment plan recommendation is directly communicated to ER physicians so care can begin immediately.
BDCH has a state-of-the-art GE Optima MR450w MRI unit, which joins our 64-slice CT scanner to provide patients with the latest technology for uncompromised image quality, expansive range of functionality and more comfortable, patient-friendly scanning experiences.
The experienced, board-certified physicians and clinical staff of the BDCH Emergency Department was the driving force behind the department’s Studer Group® Excellence in Patient Care Award. The department’s dedicated physicians, nurses and support staff are joined by board-certified subspecialty radiologists, providing BDCH patients with access to the most advanced medical imaging interpretations in their own community.
Less serious injuries and ailments are directed to BDCH’s Urgent Care, now open 24 hours every day. Patients also have convenient access to skilled physicians and nurse practitioners in our Walk-In locations at BDCH Medical Clinics in Beaver Dam, Columbus, Horicon, Juneau and Waupun.
BDCH introduced the first 24/7 Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program in the region for adolescents and adults in 2011 and soon after added additional training to treat pediatric victims.
A SANE nurse is a registered nurse who has learned, through many hours of specialized training, how to care for sexual assault victims in a confidential and secure setting.
SANE Nurses are specially trained to facilitate the care of victims of sexual assault. They interview victims, perform physical examinations for injuries and evidence, provide pregnancy testing and prevention, and offer services to help prevent sexually transmitted diseases. SANE nurses assist with law enforcement communication, collect medical-forensic evidence for use in court and serve as expert witnesses when needed.
