Breastfeeding education and personalized attention from our lactation consultants help mom and baby adjust and prepare to return home.
Lactation Consultants not only help with the early days but can assist the mother throughout her entire breastfeeding experience. At MMC-BD's Lactation Office, mothers come in for various reasons including feeding and baby weight assessment, low milk supply or oversupply, going back to work, pumping, starting baby on solid foods and other breastfeeding-related issues.
There is plenty of support and assistance for the mom who is breastfeeding. We currently have an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) on staff to help with the initial breastfeeding experience. The IBCLC is available for outpatient visits after you go home to help you meet your breastfeeding goals (at no charge). In addition, all OB nurses have training in assisting new mothers with breastfeeding and are available 24/7 during your stay.
