“Having the ability to quickly create a positive change in a patient’s life with my own hands through a surgical intervention is incredibly rewarding.”

Kayla Chapman, M.D., is a board-certified general surgeon who performs a wide array of surgical procedures like hernia repairs, endoscopies, colonoscopies, gallbladder removals, appendectomies, lumpectomies and mastectomies, acid reflux surgery, colon surgery and other minimally invasive laparoscopic interventions.

“My own college experience with surgery and physical therapy inspired me to help other people the way my providers helped me,” Dr. Chapman said. “General surgery appeals to me because of the technical skill and anatomical knowledge that’s required, and I love the team approach to compassionate patient care that gives everyone an opportunity to make a real difference in our patients’ lives.”

In addition to performing more traditional minimally invasive techniques, Dr. Chapman enjoys utilizing the state-of-the-art da Vinci Xi robotic surgery platform for more complex cases.

“Working collaboratively with my patients means listening intently, paying attention to detail and being compassionate, knowledgeable and trustworthy,” Dr. Chapman said. “As a country girl myself, I’m really happy to be practicing in a small rural area where I can get to know people and be an engaged member of the community.”

Dr. Chapman earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biology at Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee before attending the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, where she received her medical degree and performed her residency.

In her spare time, Dr. Chapman enjoys going for walks and hiking with her husband Charlie, who is also a general surgeon, and their chocolate lab. She also likes paddle boarding, ice fishing and shooting hoops.
