Marshfield Clinic Health System and Marshfield Medical Center-Beaver Dam (MMC-BD) have set temporary visitor restrictions at all acute care locations effective Friday, March 13. While there have been no known cases of COVID-19 in Dodge County as of Friday morning, March 13, these measures are in place to protect patients due to confirmed cases of coronavirus in surrounding communities.
Hillside Manor, Eagle’s Wings and Remembrance Home have already enacted visitor limitations according to CMS guidelines. Limiting visitation for these facilities means that individuals will not be allowed to enter except for certain situations, including end-of-life circumstances and when a visitor is critical to a resident’s well-being.
“Marshfield Clinic Health System places patient safety as priority,” said Tammy Simon, vice president, IQIPS. “These visitor restrictions are in place to keep our patients, staff and communities safe.”
The Health System understands and respects the importance of the relationships patients have with their loved ones. As such, other types of communication, such as via phone or virtual, are encouraged during this time.
Also, all non-essential vendors are restricted from entering any MMC-BD facility until further notice. “Essential” includes all vendors who are actively supporting direct patient care. If a vendor has a prescheduled meeting with a member of MMC-BD staff, that meeting will need to be canceled and rescheduled, or moved to a teleconference meeting.
Those vendors that are essential must conduct a personal health assessment prior to entering the campus. If the vendor has any symptoms of any type of illness, the vendor must recuse themselves from the case and appoint another representative for case support.
