“I was scared; my whole family was scared. But after talking with my cancer nurse navigator and (my physician), I was calm, I knew what was next and I knew I could beat this. I knew I was going to be ok.
“To receive treatment so close to home with people I know and trust meant the world to me. Everyone was compassionate and supportive. And when I was done I was home in 10 minutes, right where I wanted to be."

Tomosynthesis (3D Mammography)

MMC-BD was the first in Dodge County to offer Tomosynthesis, the latest in breast health diagnostics.

  • Provides clearer images
  • 3D imaging reduces tissue overlap and the masking effect of tissue density, increasing cancer detection rates and decreasing false positives
  • Improves accuracy in pinpointing size, shape and location of abnormalities
  • Helps detect cancers at earlier stages, resulting in higher survival rates
  • Reduces number of false positives and unnecessary callbacks
  • Improved likelihood of detecting multiple breast tumors, which occur in 15 percent of breast cancer patients

Digital Mammography

MMC-BD was the first hospital in the region to offer Digital Mammography for immediate image availability and greater patient comfort. Digital Mammography uses computers and specially designed digital detectors to produce an image that can be displayed on a high-resolution computer monitor in a matter of seconds.

  • Digital Mammography offers many benefits:
  • Improved image quality, especially for dense breast tissue
  • Quicker results and reduced exam time for patients
  • Physician manipulation of images for higher contrast and close up views
  • Reduced need for retakes due to over or under exposure of film
  • Images can be easily stored and transmitted in a streamlined manner

Stereotactic Breast Biopsy System

The MMC-BD Breast Health Program features the Stereotactic Breast Biopsy system, completing its comprehensive continuum of breast health services, which include digital mammography and the Mammotome® Breast Biopsy System. Stereotactic breast biopsy is designed to minimize patient discomfort and maximize accuracy.
