Beaver Dam Community Hospital’s commitment to delivering excellence has been recognized by numerous external organizations over the past few years:
Receiving the 2016 Top Rural Hospital Award from The Leapfrog Group are: Dr. Anne DeGreve; Kelly Boelter, RN; Mel Bruins, chief talent officer; Dr. Jason Smith, chief medical officer; Kim Miller, FACHE, president and CEO; Sue Sutter, BDCH Board of Directors vice chair; and Colette Smith, director of Inpatient Nursing.
In January 2017, BDCH was recognized by the American Heart Association as a Platinum-Level Fit-Friendly Worksite for the second consecutive year.
In December 2016, BDCH was Awarded the prestigious Top Rural Hospital Distinction for the third consecutive year. BDCH remains the first and only Wisconsin hospital to earn this honor.
In October 2016, BDCH learned it had achieved an 'A' grade for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group for the fourth consecutive year. BDCH was one of only 113 hospitals in the country to have earned four straight 'A' grades.
In May 2016, Beaver Dam Community Hospitals, Inc.’s commitment to safe, quality patient care and to population health earned it the Health Transformation Award from The Alliance, a Madison-based not-for-profit cooperative of employers across the Midwest.
In February 2016, BDCH was recognized as a Platinum-Level Fit-Friendly Worksite by the American Heart Association for helping employees eat better and move more. The Fit-Friendly Worksites program is a catalyst for positive change in the American workforce by helping worksites prioritize their employees’ health and well-being.
In December 2015, BDCH earned its second consecutive Top Rural Hospital honor by The Leapfrog Group for demonstrating excellence in patient safety and quality. BDCH is still the first and only Wisconsin rural hospital to earn this distinction.
In November 2015, BDCH's Hillside Home Care and Hospice earned HomeCare Elite status for the ninth time in 10 years. Home Care Elite measures an agency's quality of care, patient satisfaction, care improvement outcomes and financial performance. For an agency to be awarded Elite status, it must be in the top 25 percent of Medicare-certified agencies.
In October 2015, BDCH earned an 'A' for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group for the third consecutive year. The Leapfrog Group rates how well hospitals protect patients from accidents, errors, injuries and infections. BDCH was one of only 12 Wisconsin hospitals to earn the highest grade.
In September 2015, BDCH's Remembrance Home was honored with the Excellence in Action Award for the third consecutive year. This honor recognizes long term care and senior living organizations that achieve the highest levels of satisfaction excellence, as demonstrated by overall resident or employee satisfaction scores.
In August 2015, the BDCH Rehabilitation Services Department received the Outcomes Excellence Award by Focus on Therapeutic Outcomes (FOTO). This award is given for exceeding national benchmarks for expected improvement in functional performance for four consecutive quarters.
In January 2015, Kim Miller, FACHE, BDCH President & CEO, was named to Becker's Hospital Review's '50 Rural Hospital CEOs to Know' list.
In December 2014, BDCH became the first and only Wisconsin rural community hospital to be named to The Leapfrog Group's coveted annual list of Top Hospitals. The Top Hospital award is given to less than seven percent of all eligible hospitals.
In 2014, BDCH earned an 'A' for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group for the second consecutive year. The Leapfrog Group rates how well hospitals protect patients from accidents, errors, injuries and infections.
In November 2014, Hillside Home Care and Hospice claimed the Home Care Elite Award for the eighth time in the past nine years and also earned Top 500 Agency status. Home Care Elite measures an agency's quality of care, patient satisfaction, care improvement outcomes and financial performance. For an agency to be awarded Elite status, it must be in the top 25 percent of Medicare-certified agencies. A Top 500 agency falls in the top five percent.
In October 2014, the BDCH Cancer Nurse Navigator Program was honored with a Best Practices Award from the Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators (AONN+). The award honors those who have implemented novel initiatives to support patients with cancer.
In October 2014, the Partners of BDCH received a 2014 Wisconsin Award for Volunteer Excellence (WAVE) from the Wisconsin Hospital Association. The Partners earned recognition for the success of its annual Craft Fair, which raises money for the BDCH Foundation's Employees Helping Employees fund.
In August 2013, BDCH Board Chair Jim Kirsh Earned a 2013 Wisconsin Hospital Association Trustee Award. The WHA Trustee Award honors trustees who have made an exemplary commitment to their hospital and to the community they serve. Since its establishment, this award has recognized a number of distinguished health care leaders throughout Wisconsin.
On May 19, 2013, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel announced that Beaver Dam Community Hospitals, Inc. was one of its 2013 Top 100 Workplaces.

In October 2012, Beaver Dam Community Hospitals, Inc. (BDCH) was recognized with a prestigious Excellence in Patient Care award for the second consecutive year.
BDCH was honored for the extremely high standards of patient care delivered by the physicians, caregivers and staff of the BDCH Medical Clinics. Beaver Dam Community Hospitals opened the BDCH Medical Clinics only two years ago specifically to bring additional primary care, primary care sports medicine and OB/GYN physicians to the area. The clinics were recognized by Studer as a result of achieving excellent patient satisfaction scores above the 90th percentile for 22 straight months in the categories of “Overall Quality of Care” and “Would You Recommend our Clinics” by patients.
In 2012, Beaver Dam Community Hospital was named the Non-Profit Organization of the Year by the Beaver Dam Chamber of Commerce.
BDCH was recognized by the Chamber for its many contributions to the community and the region. An independent hospital, BDCH is one of Dodge County’s largest employers with more than 1,000 employees.
Also, by providing quality health care close to home, BDCH helps make the Beaver Dam area a more attractive city for businesses and to live in and raise a family.
BDCH staff also make a significant impact in the community by donating their time to many worthy groups, organizations and community events.

"Beaver Dam Community Hospital, including its clinics and many other operations, is known for offering state-of-the-art care and specialized treatment options more often associated with facilities in larger locales."
In 2011, BDCH received HealthGrades' Outstanding Patient Experience Award for the third consecutive year.
The award is based on HealthGrades' analysis of 3,797 hospitals throughout the country using HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) data released by CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services). In all, 339 hospitals (less than 10 percent) were nationally recognized as Outstanding Patient Experience Award recipients.
The award recognizes hospitals for patient satisfaction based on actual patient experiences in their hospital.
In 2011, BDCH's Outpatient Services and Emergency Department were each honored with prestigious Excellence in Patient Care awards during the Studer Group's What's Right in Health Care Conference.
To be eligible for the award, an organization must demonstrate outstanding performance in patient care. Recipients were nominated by Studer Group coaches and winners were selected by a panel of senior leaders based on achievement, improvement and overall outstanding performance.
BDCH was the only Wisconsin hospital honored with an Excellence in Patient Care Award.
In 2008, BDCH received the Studer Group's October Fire Starter of the Month Award for its commitment to clinical, service and operational excellence.
