BDCH Achieves Bronze Level Recognition for Workplace Health

The American Heart Association recently released its Workplace Health Achievement Index and announced that Beaver Dam Community Hospitals, Inc. has achieved Bronze level recognition for the second consecutive year for taking significant steps to build a culture of health in the workplace.

The BDCH Wellness Program offers interactive, motivating health challenges, a wide array of invigorating employee-led fitness classes including Zumba, Boot camp, meditation sessions, a monthly wellness newsletter and much more. The BDCH Wellness Committee also worked on implementing other healthier lifestyle initiatives such as, Sit to Stand Workstation program, internal/external walking routes, along with interactive cooking demos held by BDCH Chef Kylie Peltier to showcase healthy cooking.https://bdch.com/sites/bdch.com/assets/images/news/IMG_3407p.jpg

The American Heart Association created the Index with its CEO Roundtable members, a leadership collaborative of more than 40 CEOs from some of America’s largest companies who are committed to applying evidence-based approaches to improve their employees’ overall health. The Index uses science-based best practices to evaluate the overall quality and comprehensiveness of their workplace health programs. A unique feature of the Index is that it calculates an average heart health score for employees of participating companies that securely submit aggregate health data.

“BDCH is dedicated to leading by example when it comes to workplace wellness, and it has been extremely gratifying to watch our internal Wellness Program evolve over the years,” said Mel Bruins, BDCH Chief Talent Officer who oversees human resources and the BDCH Wellness Program. “Encouraging our team members along their personal journeys of wellness by making healthy choices easier aligns beautifully with the Blue Zones Project® initiatives we’ve brought to the Dodge County region.”

The Association’s Workplace Health Achievement Index allows companies to measure the effectiveness of their workplace health programs, as well as the overall heart health of their employees.
