Scouts BSA Girls Troop 838 Recruitment Meeting

6:30 PM Monday, January 21st, 2019
707 S. University Ave., Beaver Dam, WI 53916

Beaver Dam Community Hospitals, Inc. (BDCH) is proud to announce it has become the charter organization for local Scouts BSA Girls Troop 838. BDCH will provide logistical support, provide meeting space and assist in the troop’s growth and development by collaborating on various projects and educational opportunities.

For the first time in its more than 100-year history, the Boy Scouts of America will be open to young women.

“Scouts BSA Girls Troop 838 aligns closely with our own mission and vision and is a way for us to make a positive impact on the youth of our community,” BDCH Chief Talent Officer Mel Bruins said. “It’s rewarding to partner with a program that offers young girls such a breadth of opportunities to expand their horizons and learn lifetime skills.”

Examples of ways BDCH anticipates working with Scouts BSA Girls Troop 838 include healthy camping recipe demonstrations, fire safety instruction, first aid and emergency preparedness, health care education and work with BDCH’s variety of organic gardens.

Scouts BSA is a year-round program for boys and girls in fifth grade through high school that provides fun, adventure, learning, challenge, and responsibility to help them become the best version of themselves.

"We are excited to have such an engaged partner with Beaver Dam Community Hospitals as our charter organization," said Tony Kikkert, Scouts BSA Troop 838 Scoutmaster. "The leadership that BDCH not only shows their employees but the community is exactly the vision for Scouts BSA Troop 838 and how the young girls in this group will give back to their schools, community and region as they take their journey to achieving the rank of Eagle."

Families of girls in 5-12 grades (11-18 years of age) of Beaver Dam and the surrounding area are invited to learn more about Scouts BSA Troop 838 at a recruitment event being held on Monday, Jan. 21 at BDCH, 707 S. University Ave., from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the first-floor conference rooms past the main entrance. Scouts BSA Troop 838 is a girls-only Troop. If you are unable to attend this recruitment event, please contact Tony Kikkert via email at bdtroop838@gmail.com for more information.

“We are excited to go camping, canoeing, hiking, rock climbing and more while developing skills and friendships that will last a lifetime,” Kikkert said. “Join us on the journey and adventure of scouting to Eagle!”
