“At BDCH, we’re dedicated to supporting the health and wellness of our region, and that commitment starts with our employees,” said Mel Bruins, BDCH Chief Talent Officer who oversees human resources and the BDCH Wellness Program. “It has been gratifying to see our employees’ enthusiasm for our wellness program and we share in their excitement as work together to help them reach their wellbeing goals. It’s an honor to once again earn this recognition from the American Heart Association.”
The BDCH Wellness Program includes fun, motivating health challenges, a wide array of invigorating employee-led fitness classes including kettlebell and meditation sessions, publishes a monthly wellness newsletter and more. The BDCH Wellness Committee has also worked with the BDCH Café to provide a greater selection of healthy meal options for both employees and the public.

The Fit-Friendly Worksites program is a catalyst for positive change in the American workforce by helping worksites prioritize their employees’ health and well-being.
American employers lose an estimated $225.8 billion a year because of health care expenses and health-related losses in productivity, and those numbers are rising. Many American adults spend most of their waking hours at sedentary jobs, and changing corporate cultures by motivating employees to live a happier, healthier lifestyle can reduce these costs and lead to greater productivity.
