Medical Imaging

This department provides diagnostic x-rays and mammograms, ultrasound examinations, CT scanning, MRI magnetic scanning, and nuclear medicine.

All of the tests and exams in the department are done under the guidance of a radiologist or neurologist.

Bone densitometry uses resonance to check bone mineral density.

CT scans are performed on areas of the body such as head, chest, abdomen, pelvis, and spine.

Mammography services are available Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. by appointment. Annual screening mammograms for women age 40 and over can be obtained without a doctor's order. Women under age 40 need a doctor's order to have a mammogram. Women who have a mammogram at Beaver Dam Community Hospital must have a physician to whom we can send the results.

Guidelines from the American Cancer Society

          1.   Monthly Breast Self-Examination (BSE): From age 20 on, it is recommended that you do a monthly BSE about a week after your period ends. If you do not have regular periods, do BSE on the first day of the month. BSE takes only a few minutes and costs nothing, but can lead to saving your life.

          2.   Regular Physical Examination: Clinical breast examination (CBE) by a healthcare professional is advised for ages 20-39, every 3 years and for ages 40 and over, every year (CBE should be done near the time of your mammogram)

          3.   Regularly Scheduled Mammogram: Age 40 and over annually

The Best Protection is Early Detection

MRI is magnetic resonance imaging and can be done Monday through Friday.

Nuclear medicine provides valuable data on various organ, bone, and blood flow problems.

X-ray includes routine x-rays, mammograms, and special diagnostic procedures. (920) 887-4006
